Chelsea midfielder Yuri Zhirkov is set to complete a £13.2 million move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Russian midfielder has already met up with Anzhi coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev as he looks to complete his move to the Russian Premier League outfit.
Russian giants Zenit, Dinamo Dynamo Moscow and Rubin Kazan were also keen, but the club from Makhachkala looks likely to win the race for the 27-year-old.
Anzhi defender Rasim Tagirbekov has revealed that Zhirkov is on the verge of joining the club.
“Yury is a great footballer. The team are very happy that he is coming to our club. It’s a very good signing for Anzhi. Zhirkov already had a chat with the head coach and almost all of the players,” Tagirbekov was quoted as saying.
Backed by the billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov, Anzhi have already signed Roberto Carlos, Mbark Boussoufa and Balasz Dzsudzsak among others, while the club also made formal bids for Santos star duo Neymar and Ganso.
