Arsene's heartfelt letter to unhappy Gunners supporter

ARSENE WENGER has opened his heart in a frank and honest letter to a disillusioned Gunners fan.

Arsenal's boss took the time and trouble to reply to the supporter, who had written to the club complaining about a lack of big signings.

Wenger patiently explains why he refuses to spend money recklessly, highlights the weaknessses that cost the club the Premier League title last season - and accepts ultimate responsibility for the failure.

But overwhelmingly Wenger, who sent the letter at the beginning of this month, shows his loyalty to Arsenal, his players and his commitment to the business philosophy of not blowing money the club does not have.

Arsene Wenger has spoken of a need to invest in his defence this summer but said it is imperative Arsenal act with financial responsibility.

With Cesc Fabregas seemingly close to a move to Barcelona and both Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy yet to extend their contracts, Arsenal fans will have growing cause for concern at the club's failure to announce any big-name signings at this stage.

Gervinho, Juan Mata, Ricardo Alvarez, Gary Cahill and Christopher Samba have all been linked with a move to the club, and Wenger has accepted that changes are needed, but in a letter addressed to a disillusioned Gunners fan that has been reproduced in The Sun, he has stressed that the market must be approached with due caution.
