James Milner has been preferred ahead of Ashley Young on the left flank for England's Euro 2012 qualification clash against Switzerland.
The Aston Villa winger impressed in his last two international outings against Ghana and Wales, however, manager Fabio Capello has elected to play the Manchester City midfielder, who came off the bench in England's 2-0 victory at the Millennium Stadium in March.
With Wayne Rooney suspended, Theo Walcott, whose last outing in a competitive fixture for England was in this reverse fixture in Switzerland, is handed a start on the right flank.
Capello has kept the same midfield trio of Frank Lampard, Jack Wilshere and Scott Parker, who all started against Wales two months ago.
John Terry, who was reinstated as captiain due to inury to Rio Ferdinand, lines up alongside the Manchester United defender at centre-back for the first time in a competitive international since Belarus in October 2009.
For Switzerland, Granit Xhaka has been handed a debut in midfield, while Xherdan Shaqiri earns just his eight cap for his national side.
