Luka Modric will inform Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp that he is still determined to quit the club, despite being told he will not be allowed to leave at any price.
The midfielder flew in from Croatia and went straight to a 40-minute meeting at White Hart Lane with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.Modric left deeply unhappy, however, with Levy insisting that he is not prepared to sanction any deal.
The chairman held further discussions with Modric’s agent Nikky Vuksan and tried to dampen down speculation about a player determined to get back in the Champions League next season with Chelsea.
But though Tottenham have already turned down a £22million offer from Chelsea, Modric will report for pre-season training on Thursday and will repeat to Redknapp his desire to go.
Redknapp said: ‘It’s difficult when crazy sums of money are being bandied about. But we need to keep Luka and all our best players if we are to improve.’
