Roma goalkeeper Doni could move to Liverpool within next two days
The Brazilian shot-stopper, who recently turned down the Reds' initial offer, looks set to complete his move from the Italian capital to Merseyside "in the next 36 hours"
Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni is very close to completing his move to Liverpool, according to the player's agent.
The 31-year-old Brazilian was unhappy with an earlier Liverpool offer that would have seen his wages drop by a reported 60%, with Roma getting a transfer fee of around £1m. After talks with Roma Doni was told he could leave on a free transfer, the result of which was a new offer from Liverpool, according to his agent.
However, the move seems to be back on with the player possibly signing before the weekend.
Doni's agent, Ovidio Colucci, told Press Association Sport: "In the next 36 hours we will know something definite. Liverpool are interested in Doni and there is the agreement between the two clubs and with the player.
Colucci continued: "If the deal is completed, Doni will join Liverpool on a free transfer and will sign a two-year contract.
"Doni is very happy with the chance to go to Liverpool and play in the Premier League."
The Brazilian joined Roma in 2005 but struggled to find regular football recently, and he will be seen as a back-up goalkeeper at Anfield, with first choice Pepe Reina committed to Liverpool.
