Roma are close to securing a deal for Netherlands keeper Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax.
The keeper, a star at last year's World Cup, has been targetted Roma for most of the summer but previous bids for him were below Ajax's valuation.
His agent Franco Parisi, believes a deal is close. "We are working to close the differences," Parisi told Romanews.eu. "The matter must be sorted within the next 24 hours. If it isn't an agreement may never arrive."
Despite Steklenburg being out of contract next year, Roma's 5 million euro was rebuffed by Ajax but the offer is now believed to have increased to 8 million euros.
