Corinthians lodge second Tevez bid and Mancini respect his decision to quit City

Corinthians saw a €40 million (£35 million) bid turned down by City earlier this week, with the Premier League club said to be seeking a fee of £50m.

The Brazilian team have upped their proposal to €40 million plus €4 million in add-ons. City are tempted by the terms although they could look to negotiate further.

Corinthians are under pressure to wrap up a deal before Wednesday, when Brazil's international transfer window closes. Juventus have also been mooted as suitors, but no official offer has been forthcoming from the Italian team.

It is reported that City have concerns over how the South American club will finance the deal, but Kia Joorabchian has insisted they have the funds available, citing sponsorship and TV rights money.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted that whilst the club will undoubtedly miss striker Carlos Tevez, should he be granted his request to leave, he fully respects the Argentine’s decision.

Tevez has recently reiterated his desire to quit the FA Cup winners, citing family reasons, which has led Brazilian side Corinthians to bid for his services, with Juventus also reportedly having moved to sign the striker.

The former Manchester United man scored 20 league goals for Mancini’s side last season as they finished third in the Premier League, to secure a Champions League spot, and the Italian admits he is an important player.

However, Mancini also added that he felt it was important that players were happy at their clubs and insisted Tevez had struggled being away from his family

"Every time I spoke to Carlos he never said to me 'I want to leave', he said he is missing his daughters, his family.

City manager Roberto Mancini is already plotting for life without Tevez after confirming he will look to bring in the Argentina international's compatriot Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid.

Should Aguero arrive at Eastlands as Tevez's replacement, the 23-year-old will have big shoes to fill - the latter having scored 44 Premier League goals in 66 outings since arriving from Manchester United in 2009.
