Leicester snap up Konchesky

Championship side Leicester have signed left-back Paul Konchesky.

Konchesky joined Liverpool from Fulham last summer during Roy Hodgson's time at the club, but he struggled for form and it became clear that he was surplus to requirements when Kenny Dalglish took over in January.

The player was allowed to join Nottingham Forest on loan towards the end of the season, and he now returns to the East Midlands with big-spending Leicester on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

A Reds statement read: "Liverpool have today finalised a deal to sell Paul Konchesky to Leicester City. The 30-year-old will now join the Championship outfit for pre-season."

Foxes boss Sven Goran Eriksson gave Konchesky his two England caps in 2003 and 2005.

Eriksson said: "Paul has been a Premier League player year in and year out throughout his career so he represents a very big signing for us.

"He wanted to come to Leicester City and it means a lot that proven, established top-flight footballers want to be part of what we are building here. I know Paul very well as a player and as a person and he will be a top-class addition to our squad."
