Argentina to drop Carlos Tevez & Ezequiel Lavezzi for Copa America clash against Costa Rica

Argentina coach Sergio Batista is expected to make up to four significant changes to his starting XI when they face Costa Rica in their Copa America group match on Monday, with Carlos Tevez among those set to face the axe.

Draws against Bolivia and Colombia so far in the section have forced Batista to consider using different options for the must-win match.

ESPN Deportes claims that Manchester City's Tevez, Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, Ever Banega, and Esteban Cambiasso will be dropped.

Replacing them will be Fernando Gago, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, and Gonzalo Higuain, and Batista will also switch formation from 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1.

Argentina are expected to line up as follows: Sergio Romero; Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Burdisso, Gabriel Milito, Javier Zanetti; Gago, Javier Mascherano; Aguero, Lionel Messi, Di Maria; Higuain.

They are currently third in Group A with just two points from two matches, as they look to clinch the South American title for the first time since 1993.
