The Spanish giants have wrapped up the transfer of the Portugal international after agreeing terms with player and club, although the player must still undergo medical
Benfica have announced they have agreed to sell Fabio Coentrao to Real Madrid after the Spanish club met the full-back's release fee.
The 23-year-old has agreed to a five-year deal at Santiago Bernabeu and will join once he has passed a medical.
A statement released on Tuesday afternoon by the Portuguese side confirmed the transfer will be formalised as soon as the player concludes the medical examinations he will be undertaking with the consent of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, and a working contract between the player and Real Madrid FC agreed.
Earlier, A Bola claimed Coentrao had agreed a long-term contract after striking a deal over personal terms in a Monday night meeting in the Spanish capital.
Coentrao was previously linked with Bayern Munich and Chelsea before deciding on a La Liga move.
