Sunderland sign South Korea striker Ji Dong-Won

Sunderland have completed the signing of South Korea striker Ji Dong-Won.

Ji, 20, joins the Black Cats from Chunnam Dragons on a three-year deal after the administrative side of the deal was finally resolved. The fee has not been disclosed.

Manager Steve Bruce said: "The boy has been in fantastic form for both club and country and he was one of South Korea's stand-out performers at the Asian Cup, so we are delighted to bring him to Sunderland.

"The Barclays Premier League is very different to the K-League, so there is hard work ahead, but you just have to look at players like Park Ji-Sung and Lee Chung-Yong to see how well Korean players are adapting to its pace and physicality."

The signing comes just one day after the arrival of fellow striker Connor Wickham, who joined from Ipswich for an initial fee of £8.1 million.

Sunderland have been in need of strikers after Danny Welbeck returned to Manchester United following the expiry of his loan spell and the news that Fraizer Campbell is set to miss much of the coming campaign through injury.
